(Courtesy of ESPN) Leyland has a look of “GET YOUR HAND OF DEATH OFF OF ME!”
A Deep deep DEEP! Sigh of relief…
I have never in my life felt so good about a first win (that wasn’t involving the Lions). Bonderman pitched great, our bullpen held up, and SOME (definitely not all) the players seem to be waking up and starting to actually play the way we expect them to.
Edgar Renteria, someone that had been lambasted by several fans showed up and proved today that he still has it left in the tank. His 3 for 4 effort gave this team the offensive production boost they needed and led to much needed (understatement of the century) 7-2 win.
There were still major concerns however… Once again the starting pitching for the Tigs only went 5 innings, and Polanco and Sheffield continue to struggle at the plate. Polanco is especially worrysome because of his errors in now two consecutive games and his once consistent hitting is now seeming lackluster this season. Apparently he needs to go back to the cages alittle more and work on getting that consistent stroke back.
For my last gripe after this glorious win, WHY THE HELL IS I-Rod (aka “I FUCKING SWING AT EVERYTHING” ..Rod) leading off… Sure he got a walk and FINALLY that 2500th hit… but this man is not a leadoff man. I’d much rather see Edgar or even Inge (if hes starting) there. Just a personal opinion.
I’m hoping the Tigs wake up and start to pay attention to the little things… Like stringing together some hits (for lack of a better cliche)… and Guillen getting his ass of the baseline (YOU DONT STRADDLE FIRST PLATE!).
I want to end on a good note, so I’ll say this… The Tigers looked beyond relieved after the win, which made me have hope that they could start to loosen up a bit at the plate.
P.S. Leyland deserves a whole pack of Red 100’s after that 9th inning… watching our hero Todd Jones scare the shit out of us tigs fans.
P.S.S. (PSS?) For Sportsinferno (NOT VALENTI & FOSTER) fans, Thank Valenti’s Mohawk for that win.
